Edward sharing his story at the National Dialogue on CLFZ

Edward's Story

Edward was a child at risk of child labor. He was identified by the project through a CCPC member when he was in Primary One. His mother, a disabled single mother, took care of him and his other siblings. Edward's grandfather supports the mother in taking care of her and her upbringing needs. Edward had to drop out of school to work on people's cacao farms to earn some money for the family.

"I want to be a surgeon and am studying hard for this dream"
Due to his mother's health, he was involved in child labor. When Edward dropped out of school, it put his 3-year-old twin sisters at risk as their chances of attending school were slim. Before he was enrolled in school, Edward did menial chores in the community to take care of his farm. The project provided Edward with school logistics and enrolled him back in school. Edward would like to become a surgeon later. I want to be a surgeon and am studying hard for this dream. He is very grateful to the SMILE Ghana project.
